Important Tips and Tricks

Keep Fragile and Heavy Items Low - Do not stack fragile items on top of other items or boxes. Heavier boxes should be stored low to avoid falling or damaging boxes underneath them.

Go Vertical - Using the height of your self-storage unit will help maximize your space. Even though a storage unit as small as a 55 has only 25 square feet of storage space, it has 200 cubic feet to work with.

Utilize Shelves and Storage Furniture - Storing a dresser, shelves, or other items for storage at your home or business? Utilize those items to help maximize your space in your storage unit. Garbage cans can be used to store items too!

Make a Walkway - Creating a walkway isn't necessary if you don't plan to take items in and out of self-storage regularly. When using a larger storage unit like a 10 x 20 or bigger, leaving a small walkway to access items throughout your storage unit can save you lots of time and trouble down the road.

Use Wooden Pallets - Utilize wood pallets to raise your items off the concrete floor. This will help with air flow throughout your storage unit. It's also a great way to avoid moisture buildup that items sitting directly on the floor can experience.

Leave Items You'll Need Most Near the Front - If you know you'll need something sooner than later, make sure these items are kept near the front of your storage unit for convenience.
